General Information About Aquatic Therapy
SpineTech offers an inter-disciplinary approach to management of spine and musculoskeletal disorders that includes Aquatic Therapy. Aquatic herapy is a form of hydrotherapy that is used primarily for upright weight-bearing activities, such as standing and ambulation, active exercise, upper or lower extremity exercise and horizontal floating activities.
The SwimEx™ is a specialized, state-of-the-art pool that utilizes the properties of water to allow for freedom of movement. The SwimEx can be used with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis, joint replacement and spinal disorders.
This area includes a whirlpool unit that allows for specific treatment of extremities by partially or totally immersing the body part in water. The water can be used to heat or cool down tissue for various therapeutic purposes.
Individualized Therapy in our SwimEx Pool
The SwimEx pool is a complete isokinetic aquatic therapy system that puts rehabilitation programs into a new league. Starting with little or no water resistance, patients in the initial stages of rehab can begin therapy sooner because of the buoyancy principles of water. Results can be measured as patients graduate to progressive weight?bearing protocols using increasing water resistance; and treatment can extend into a full range of training and conditioning.
Our SwimEx pool model features a patented paddlewheel propulsion system, which circulates up to 30,000 gallons of water per minute power unmatched by any other hydrotherapy system on the market. The SwimEx pool's water flow extends smoothly, evenly across the entire exercise area, with its laminar resistance extending 30" below the surface. Water speeds are adjustable, with over 40 precise settings up to 6.5 mph. With room to treat three patients comfortably at one time, the SwimEx pool’s multiple water depths, eight distinct work stations, and deep water running platform offer diversity never before achieved with an aquatic therapy system. Total body applications include upper and lower extremity exercises, running, walking, swimming and explosive plyometric work. That, combined with full body range of motion and flexibility in patient positioning, meet the needs of every patient population.
The SwimEx system gives complete control in prescribing the exact amount and type of exercise needed while allowing unlimited design of individual protocols. Whether in rehab or training and conditioning programs, progression is easily measured, monitored and documented for evaluation and third party billing. Aquatic therapy using the SwimExe system is recognized by all major insurance carriers, including workman's compensation and no?fault.
Our Aquatic Therapy area also has a full shower with privacy for the convenience of patients. |
